Night of the Derby — Part Deux

Local artists get down and derby with their de-car-ations

Some new art cars are on the prowl. Night of the Derby — Part Deux features those mini-pinewood racers from your Scout days made over by local artists. They’ll be put to the test on the racetrack and in the display case; awards will be handed out for fastest, slowest, prettiest and ugliest. That makes for some interesting entries, as artists must choose whether to focus on form, function or both. Some cars will simply get a nice paint job; others will be topped with everything from toy dinosaurs to beer cans. Still others will be reshaped to look like boats, elephants and more. All of the entries will be auctioned off at the end of the night. 6 p.m. Box 13, 6700 Harrisburg. For information, call 713-502-9454 or visit www.bbap-houston.com. $5.
