“J. Antonio Farfan, A Solo Exhibit: On the Nature of Time”

In 2002, the artist J. Antonio Farfan, who had spent much of his young life in our fair city (he was educated at the University of Houston), decamped for New York. Fortunately for us, he decided to return in 2004, and his work has since appeared at multiple galleries and public exhibitions. “J. Antonio Farfan, A Solo Exhibit: On the Nature of Time,” on display at Bering & James, includes a number of his inviting, vivid acrylic-and-pastel works, which are soft yet vibrant, and satisfying.

The Mexican-born artist’s work explores what he calls the “multiple dimensions” of a rapidly changing, globalizing world, and while his pieces are certainly complex, they’re also easy to appreciate, thanks to Farfan’s skillful use of bright color.
