Its a hometown lineup at the Cinco de Mayo Festival, the annual celebration of the Mexican victory at the 1862 Battle of Puebla. Girl group Las Fenix (four teenaged sisters who turn Norteño music on its ear) and Fito Olivarez (writer of the cumbia classic Juana La Cubana and past winner of the Houston Press Music Awards Best Traditional Mexican Artist) headline the show. Of course, therell also be performances by local ballet folklórico and mariachi groups along with lots of Mexican food and all the regular festival fun. The festival starts mid-afternoon, but Las Fenix and Olivarez wont take the stage until after dark. 3 p.m. Miller Outdoor Theatre, 100 Concert Drive in Hermann Park.
