“Stations”

In his new exhibit “Stations,” Anthony Thompson Shumate recreates Jesus’s march to the crucifixion, except he puts gas stations where Stations of the Cross belong. The lighted stained glass artworks also feature countrysides that resembles oil fields. The pieces look like they should be hung in a cathedral of commerce. Shumate also created an altar complete with saint candles. “There is a prayer altar where you can light votive candles and say your prayers to whatever saint or gas station you prefer to go to,” he says. After an opening reception at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, regular viewing hours for “Stations” are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Through April 27.
