Bayou City Cajun Festival
Will it be eat first and dance later, or vice versa, at this zydeco party?
Published on April 02, 2008 at 1:40am
The folks at Traders Village have settled on the unfortunate motto Gator Done for this years Bayou City Cajun Festival. But we can overlook that, in light of the exciting list of Cajun bands on the schedule (not to mention all the cool stuff you can buy at this giant flea market). You can chow down on some Louisiana grub from local restaurant French Quarter Cajun Seafood while listening to a lively mix of Cajun, zydeco and rock from todays headliner, Louisiana fiddler Waylon Thibodeaux. Also performing today and tomorrow is Houston singer and skilled accordionist Lady D, who won the 2003 Houston Press Music Award for Best Zydeco. Other acts include 16-year-old Hunter Hayes, Don Fontenot and Friends of Louisiana, and Houstons Bayou Roux, who will be providing jumping Cajun rock with a heavy dose of zydeco. Whatever you do, dont forget your dancing shoes. 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and tomorrow. Traders Village, 7979 North Eldridge Road.
