Wicked Poseur
These local rockers keep our attention with a mature, new wave sound
Published on February 20, 2008 at 1:41am
Wicked Poseurs Intoxicating Soap is a song that makes dancers out of doubters. Listen to the live recording on the local bands MySpace page, and try to imagine the repetitive opening guitar riffs not drawing you onto the dance floor. Other tracks follow suit with new wave touches deep, Depeche Mode-esque vocals fronting plenty of looping drum machines, keyboards and distorted guitars. It all sounds a little simple, but the work of duo Arthur Bates and Christopher Cascio has a mature finish that keeps them a step ahead of any sound-a-likes and earns them top tier status on our playlist. Aunt Dracula and The Wiggins are also on the bill. 8 p.m. The Mink/ Backroom, 3718 Main. For information, call 713-522-9985 or visit www.themink.org.
