Joe Rogan

The host of Fear Factor and Man Show won’t let stealing slide

By Dusti Rhodes

Published on February 20, 2008 at 1:42am

You may remember Joe Rogan as Joe from News Radio or from his gigs hosting Ultimate Fighting Championship, Fear Factor and The Man Show. But what other comedians will always remember him for is his dedication to outing copycats. Rogan is arguably the most outspoken opponent of popular comedian Carlos Mencia (or, as Rogan pronounces it, Menstealia). Last year, Rogan got on stage at a comedy club in Los Angeles and called Mencia out for stealing jokes. He also posted videos on his Web site comparing Mencia’s material with earlier jokes from comedians such as Bill Cosby, George Lopez, Ari Shaffer and others.

In between name-calling and hosting television shows, Rogan climbed his way to the top with a biting, aggressive sense of humor (think Bill Hicks or Sam Kinnison) that addresses his favorite issues, such as politics and women. See material that doesn’t need to be credit-checked today at 8:30 p.m.; 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Laff Stop, 526 Waugh.
