"Take Heart"

The Houston Potters Guild's latest exhibit keeps love alive

By Olivia Flores Alvarez

Published on February 13, 2008 at 1:40am

Did yesterday's Valentine's Day celebrations leave you in the mood for a little more romance? Stop by the Houston Potters Guild's latest exhibit, "Take Heart," and see love made out of clay. Along with jewelry and traditional and free-form pottery, you'll see Dorothy Broaddus's textured hearts. In velvety shades of blues, greens and purples, Broaddus's hearts, each one-of-a-kind, are made using the raku process, which uses combustibles rather than a [controlled] kiln to fire pottery. Raku is "very exciting, but it's somewhat unpredictable," says Broaddus. "You never know exactly what you're going to get." 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays to Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. 2726 White Oak. For information, call 713-528-7687 or visit www.houstonpotters.com. Free.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 2. Continues through Feb. 29, 2008
