Aurora Video Library Open House and Menil Bookstore Deck Party

800 DVDs and BYOB — a cinephile’s wet dream

We’re hoping the Aurora Video Library Open House and Menil Bookstore Deck Party is as fun as its name is long. Besides screening art flicks at its church-turned-theater, Aurora Picture Show also maintains a video library with more than 800 DVDs of films and videos available to the public; it’s next to the Menil Bookstore, and that’s where the party is. There’s an outdoor screening featuring videos by Mary Magsamen and Stephan Hillerbrand (a wife-and-husband video artist duo known for their work with string, bubblegum and cheese puffs) and other Texas artists. The open house is BYOB (thanks, Aurora!). 5 to 8 p.m. 1524 Sul Ross. For information, call 713-868-2101 or visit www.aurorapictureshow.org. Free.
