Vintage Radio Roadshow
Get your old-timey radio checked out and (most importantly) price
Published on January 16, 2008 at 1:41am
Attention Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea! Remember yesteryear, when the iPod wasnt how most people listened to music and when the radio adventures of The Shadow, Charlie Chan, and Amos n Andy put the exploits of Brangelina and Britney to shame? Yes? Then maybe you also have a vintage model radio sitting around your house (or grandmas). Bring it or a picture of it down to the Vintage Radio Roadshow to find out what its worth or how many cracked tubes need replacing. Experts from the Houston Vintage Radio Association will be on hand to caress your wooden wonders and give you an idea of their monetary (though not sentimental) value. The event is being held in conjunction with the Houston Heritage Society Museums exhibit Sounds of the Past: Phonographs, Radios, and Records. Now say goodnight, Gracie. The Roadshow takes place from noon to 4 p.m. today. Regular viewing hours for the Sounds of the Past exhibit are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Through February 3. Heritage Society Museum, 1100 Bagby. For information, call 713-655-1912 or visit www.heritagesociety.org. Free.
