Houston International Boat, Sport, and Travel Show

From yachts and sailboats to fishing reels and beef jerky, it’s all here

Now that Santa has fulfilled the wish lists for area kiddies, it’s time for their dads to salivate over even bigger toys at the Houston International Boat, Sport & Travel Show. More than 1,000 luxury yachts, sailboats, ski boats, powerboats and anything-that-floats will be for sale. Also on hand: vendors specializing in goods for the life aquatic, from fishing tackle to boat hitches to…beef jerky?? (Hey, what’s a fishing trip without a little jerky?)

Anglers can also pick up tips on landing the Big One at fishing demonstrations in a 5,000-gallon tank stocked with bass. The event also brings seminars, fishing contests and a stingray exhibit. Catch the wave now, and you could be bagging your limit of red snapper or kingfish come springtime (and be sure to check out the sunscreen booth). 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. from January 7 to 11; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. January 12; noon to 6 p.m. January 13. Reliant Park, 1 Reliant Park. For information, call 713-526-6361 or visit www.houstonboatshow.com. $4 to $8.
